Where are you when it comes to poetry?

What has been your experience with poetry so far in your life?  What kinds of poems have you read or written?  How do you feel about poetry?  Be honest!

  3. I like poetry because I get to rhyme. But I don't like long poems that don't ryhme. Here is a poem I wrote.

  4. I love poetry, but I love to write poems that don't rhyme. I have written haiku and other types of poems. I feel pretty good about poetry this year. My experience with it is that I love it. That is all I really need to say.

  7. I think I'm okay with doing poems. I only know about 3 types: Quadtrains, Couplets, and Hikous. I still have a lot to learn!

  8. My exspereunts with poetry has been nothing. I do like poeyry in school but noy out side of school. I feel OK about poetry.

  9. I have done poetry in third and fourth grade. I love writing and reading poetry. I have two of Shel Silverstein's books. They are amusing and fun to read!

  10. I have some experience with poetry. I remember writing a haiku in second or third grade. I also sometimes right poems to persuade my parents to get me things. I like poetry.

  13. I love poetry. I love how it has the word try in it. I think that if you belive you can achieve. It makes me feel relaxed. I would right poems every day if i had to! :)

  14. I love poetry and I love books like Where The Sidewalk Ends.
    I think poetry is a way to express feelings onto paper like art or music. My experience with poetry before was to just rhyme and to make it look neat. Now my experience is to tell a story or feeling thats hidden behind every couplet, haiku, or riddle.

  15. I have not had a lot of experience with poetry. When I was in the 3rd grade we studied a little bit of poetry and I read books in the classroom. My favorite one that I memorized was Band-Aids. I like writing and reading poetry. I think I am getting better at writing since we have been working on it in school. I have written cuplets and qua trains.

  17. I think poetry is great for our class. It makes me feel happy thinking and hearing poems. I think this experience has been fun and creative. I think we should more focus on poetry this year beacause I enjoy it.

  19. In poetry it gets harder and harder as you go on to different kinds of poetry. I have written couplets so far but I think I will be writing a lot more.I feel good about poetry but to me it gets hard.

    but I had to stare
    because he had brown hair.

  26. My experience with poetry is reading and writing haikus in third grade. I have read poetry books and heard songs that are poems. I have read and heard mostly rhyming poems. I like poetry but I don't know much about it.

  29. All I can remember is I did poetry in 4th and 3rd grade. I liked it a lot and I am glad we're doing it again. I can't wait to see what crazy and weird poems I come up withthis year.

  30. Poetry has always been something I liked but I don't do any thing special like reading or writing poems on my own. All the poems I have written so far are okay but I will get better, I really like it.

  36. I like poetry. I have written haikus and I have read a lot of Shel Silverstein's poems - the always make me laugh! When I was younger, I wrote my mom and dad poems as presents. I'm really looking forward to our poetry time in class.

  39. I love poetry. I've had experience in 3rd grade and I didn't like it as much as I do now. The only poem we studied was couplets. I am really excited to learn all the poem types and some poets. So far nI really like Emily Dickenson. I can't wait!! and Mrs.Hochbein this is the one from Monday that we coundn't find

  40. I have done poetry in 4th and 3rd grade.I think poetry is okay but I want to do better.I am looking forward to poetry this year because Mrs.Hockbein keeps on saying how fun it is going to be.I like it so far and I hope it keeps on being fun.

  42. i like poetry because you can express yourself and can write about anything silly, serious,sad, scary or exciting and happy. i like because you can write about anything. i am very excited for poetry!!!!!

  43. I'm okay with poetry. it takes a lot of effort and time. i enjoy expressing my feelings and thoughts but it's really hard to put them into words. I've had experence with poetry in third and fourth grade and working on it now. I've read Shel Silverstein, Emily Dickison, and other good poets. I like writing then for my parents using a ryming skeme. I am looking foward to makng a poetry book.

  44. My experience with poetry is i have read and wrote some. In fact I have acted out one called "Bedhead". I have read Shel Silverstein's poems. My favorite one by him is 'Sarah Cynthia Sue Won't Take the Garbage Out'. I love poetry because it's a wonderful way to express your feelings.
